It is with mixed emotions that we say farewell to Dan Capetta, Technical Systems Manager for SAIT. After 15 years at the University, Dan will be leaving for a new job opportunity with Cigna.
Dan was an undergraduate when he began employment with ResNet in 1999. Shortly after, in 2003, he was hired full-time by Residential Life as a systems administrator. In 2005, Dan was one of the founding members of the Student Affairs Information Technology department where he started laying the base infrastructure for the Student Affairs domain, file servers, and database services.
In addition to his employment, Dan received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UConn in 2006 and earned an M.B.A. from UConn School of Business in 2012.
Dan’s contributions to IT at the University have been numerous and widespread. His professionalism, leadership and strategic vision have been a driver of positive change for UConn IT. Over the years, Dan has created partnerships and collaborations with the various IT units throughout campus in order to improve technology services for Student Affairs and the University as a whole. Not to mention, his multiple cup-a-day coffee habit may have been a major contributor to beverage sales for Dining Services.
Undeniably, Dan will be deeply missed but we have no doubt that he will continue to prove himself as an asset in his new position and we are excited for him to take these next steps in his career. Please join us in wishing Dan the very best of luck and the greatest of success in all of his future endeavors. Dan’s last day with UConn will be Friday, December 19.
